GFS Soapbar 180 Bridge Pickup
A Soapbar Sized version of GFS Dream 180 Humbucker.
Purchased this for a squier vintage modified tele project, which had been previously modified with holes drilled for a stop tail bridge, by the owner before me.
Ordered a custom built, oversized tele style bridge for a P90 to cover the unwanted holes and routed out the pickup cavity to accommodate a P90.
So, why would one go to all of that trouble, only to fit in essentially a P90 sized humbucker? i have no idea either..but at the time it seemd like a good idea.
Using 250K pots, the tone was warm and on the darker end of the spectrum, which really suited slow, sludgy, low tuned, doom riffs. Split coil tones were also very good.
ALNICO V MAGNET
Measured DC – 8.8K Ohm
Althou the pickup sounded great…it was too “humbuckery” and I ended up replacing it with a more traditional P90 pickup. Would highly recommend the Soapbar 180, if you have a guitar routed for P90s, and wanted a humbucker sound.
GFS Alnico Vintage Neck P90
Nice Fat Single coil P90 tone. Warm, beefy with just the right amount of top end spank. Its not just a good pickup “for the money” but a good pickup in general. Handles heavy doses of gain whilst maintaining clarity and note definition.
Measured DC – 8.0K ohm
