Stock Pickups fom a 2005 American Deluxe Fender Ash Stratocaster
a love/hate debacle…
on one hand, these are dead quiet, and there are a ton of tonal variations:
5-Position Blade and 2-Position Push/Push S-1
S-1 Switch Up (off):
Position 1. Bridge Pickup
Position 2. Bridge and Middle Pickup in Parallel
Position 3. Middle Pickup
Position 4. Middle and Neck Pickup in Parallel
Position 5. Neck Pickup
S-1 Switch Down:
Position 1. Bridge Pickup in Series w/ Middle Pickup
Position 2. Bridge Pickup in Parallel w/ Special Capacitor and in Series w/ Middle Pickup
Position 3. Bridge/Middle/Neck Pickups w/ Neck and Bridge Pickups in Parallel and in Series w/ Middle pickup
Position 4. Neck Pickup in Parallel w/ Special Capacitor and in Series with Middle Pickup
Position 5. Neck Pickup in Series w/ Middle Pickup
On the other hand, they all sound rather, sterile and bland…
where is the chime?
where is the sparkle?
where are the bell like qualities?
and most importantly…quack?!?!
if you like high gain…these are very useable (unless you are into chugging death metal, but why you would want a SSS strat for this application) especially if you want to play sitting infront of a computer monitor and/or not worry about interferences from other electrics such as lighting…
first world strat pickup problems.
if this was your only strat…then you would definitely be in a tough situation, with your decision being based on how strat you want your strat to strat.
